Blog Entry: I just heard some terrible news and could really use your help in trying to stop what’s going to happen. Someone has lost their mind and thought it would be a good idea to bring elephants to the race this weekend in New Hampshire and force them to perform stunts for the pre-race show! There are supposed to be trick motorcycle riders and the band Kansas is going to play, so there’s no need to ruin all the fun with cruelty-to-animals.

Elephants in traveling shows & circuses have miserable lives morning noon and night. When they’re not in chains and locked in small, horrible traveling trucks, captive elephants in are stabbed with bullhooks, (long, sharp, poker like sticks), shocked with electrical prods, and whipped in order to make them do whatever a trainer wants.

They usually have to be beaten pretty hard to do those stupid tricks that make no sense to them, so it’s no wonder why there have been so many elephants who snap and break loose—you’ve seen “When Animals Attack,” right??

I love NASCAR as much as all of you do, so I’m asking you to please call/e-mail the race track and ask them to leave the elephants out of this glorious sport.

Let the humans do all the stupid tricks!

Please take a few minutes to email Jerry Gappens the Executive Vice President at nhmspr@nhms.com and Joe McGahan the Vice President of Marketing at jmcgahan@nhms.com.

Also, the more phone calls they get the better – call the track at 603-783-4931 and voice your concerns! No elephants in NASCAR!

I’m leaving out a lot of the gory details of what animals in circuses & traveling acts go through, so if you want to know more, here’s a website with that info: www. circuses. com.
